The most trendy, the most popular flower of the current year is, undoubtedly, it is he - the peony. Pink and white, red and even blue - they conquered America and Europe with their beauty and, finally, reached our latitudes. Yes, for us, peonies are not something exotic, but in a modern interpretation, bouquets with these beautiful flowers look just great. However, it should be noted that local plants are strikingly different from imported, imported buds. What are these differences? Let's figure it out together!
Where is it known from?
In our country, peonies have been known for a very, very long time. Moreover, both our grandmothers and our great-grandmothers grew these plants not only for beauty, but also, so to speak, for medicinal purposes. But domestic breeders began to show interest in peonies only in the twentieth century. For floristic purposes, peonies are grown in greenhouses in Ukraine even now, but domestic flowers, comparable to imported ones, have several unique features.
Since we are talking about this, peonies are brought to our country mainly from Holland. No wonder, because in this country - the real homeland of the best flowers, excellent peonies are grown, which are strikingly different from those growing in our latitudes.
About the difference
So what are the differences? Let's understand the points.
Appearance. If you look at domestic peonies, it may seem that their selection was approached according to the principle - as much as possible, as magnificently as possible. Yes, indeed, the buds of Ukrainian peonies look as magnificent as possible, large and even have a slightly "disheveled appearance", especially when compared with their Dutch counterparts. In addition, the petals of Ukrainian peonies usually have a double edge and the petals themselves do not adhere very tightly to each other.
But with Dutch peonies, everything is different - here the petals are very close to each other, and have an even edge, and although the buds themselves are smaller, they look much more neat.
Flowering period. If you need to buy a bouquet of peonies from the end of March to July, then you can count on a composition with local flowers - the flowering period of Ukrainian plants is limited to about 3 months. But custom-made bouquets of Dutch flowers will be available from about April to September - peonies bloom much longer in Holland.
Persistence. When buying bouquets to order, we want them to delight the hero of the occasion with their durability as long as possible. Do you want to order a bouquet with delivery that will definitely last for two or three weeks? Then choose Dutch flowers. You can, of course, buy a bouquet of peonies from Ukrainian greenhouses, but then the resistance of plants in the cut will not exceed 15 days.
By the way, it is curious that domestic peonies are crumbling, while imported ones begin to dry out over time.
Shades. If you want to order a bouquet with delivery from some blue peonies, then only the brought flowers will suit you. Domestic plants are so far presented only in the usual shades of white, red and pink.
Price. Undoubtedly, ordering a bouquet with delivery from local peonies will be two or even three times cheaper than delivery of flowers (Kiev and suburbs) brought from Holland. However, if you want a more fashionable and more high-profile composition, it makes sense to overpay. But if you need the largest possible bouquet, then flower delivery (Kiev and its salon "Lepestki" can easily cope with this task) will be able to offer you a composition of local buds.
However, sometimes a combination of local and imported flowers is appropriate. For example, local flowers can be used for the floristic decoration of a wedding banquet, and imported counterparts for the bride's bouquet and the groom's boutonniere.
